In March We Give Thanks!

For many March brings warmer weather and our mind begins to drift to Spring Break's of our youth. March brings a glimmer of hope for a new bluebonnet crop across the state of Texas and March Madness brackets for millions.

March 2015 brought us more snow and much needed moisture to our suffering lands still recovering from a five year drought.

March also brings a reminder of two important occupations to our industry: social workers and dietitians. Both social workers and dietitians play a vital role to the overall health of our population.

Social workers are often the soft spoken individual we most commonly do not hear or see, but are increasingly vital in proper placement of many of our elderly population. According to the U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics, social work is one of the fasterst growing careers in the U.S. The profession is expected to grow by 25% between 2010 and 2020. More than 650,000 people currently hold social work degrees.

Dietitians and nutritionists are experts in food and nutrition. They generally work in many settings: hospitals, nursing homes, cafeterias, and clinics. The professions is also expected to grow at at rapid rate between 2012 and 2022, as much as 21 percent, according to the U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics.

CPCS would like to thank any individuals with either of these professions! Thank you for all that you do!
